SPOT & IDENTIFY

An opportunity is sourced and its key elements are identified. At earlystage, we are typically focused on eight-ten key elements including team, technology, resources, intellectual property, manufacturing, business strategy, market fit, manufacturing, and regulatory considerations.

ISOLATE & PRIORITIZE

The opportunity’s key elements are isolated, prioritized and the initial screening is performed. This includes inventors’ interviews and secondary research, including publications analysis, market research, and competitive intelligence.

ASSESS & EVALUATE

Each of the key elements is assessed and evaluated by primary research conducted by the earlystage team. This includes potential risks and exits verification, confirmation of invention claims, business, and financial modeling, in-person interview of experts, stakeholders, payers, and end-users.

CONVERGE & SCORE

Earlystage team converges all key elements into an innovation commercial readiness canvas (ICANVAS®) and prepares a detailed report for a client with a final commercialization readiness score (CRS™).

Zagit Z. Gaymalov, PhD.

Managing Partner

With extensive experience in commercialization of health innovations, technology transfer, licensing and new product development, Z led projects for multi-campus public universities and helped develop innovation-focused activities for clients in the North American and the Middle East. He championed technology scouting and partnership development activities, identified innovation assets and constructed economic development strategies. He invented a commercialization assessment methodology - ICANVAS® and co-invented conceptually reverse product engineering methodology - RECOPE™.

Z earned his B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Middle East Technical University and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He completed his postdoctoral training in translational medicine at UNMC and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His American Heart Association pre-doctoral fellowship led to the creation of therapy for the treatment of hind-limb ischemia.
